Albert Ebert
The small-scale paintings of the Halle-based artist Albert Ebert, executed in the style of the old masters, were highly desired by collectors. Ebert's subtle humor and his artistic expression, which he developed largely through self-study, remained unaffected by the cultural and political demands of the GDR. The imagery of the "Rousseau von der Saale" ranges from fairy-tale-like happy children's parties to abysmal grotesqueries, poetically depicting the everyday life of the "little" people.
